SEEN IT ALL TOO MANY TIMES (Konrad Lenz)

I've seen it all too many times

I nailed your saviour to the cross

I watched and waited under burning skies

The stench of bodies in a massacre

I saved some children from an avalanche

I murdered some and said it was self defence

I was good to my first wife

I loved her then I can't recall her eyes

I made my fortune selling slaves

You claimed that I was a humanitarian

I signed my name on the Devil's page

I've been around I don't look my age

I was Nero's favourite man

I loved the sound of his mandolin

I laughed when the city was crushed in flames

I don't regret what I did then

I've been a soldier. I've been a lord.

I turned my hand to medicine.

I painted the ceiling with your holy word

I guess I've changed but I'm still the same.

My heart is heavy. My heart is hard.

My eyes are tired from all they've seen

I'm all alone now. These hands have sinned.

The blood and tears, they never change.
